Real Madrid’s transfer priorities this summer are clear: after solidifying their backline with the signings of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and potentially Alvaro Carreras, the next big mission is reinforcing the midfield.
And according to fresh reports from Argentina, Los Blancos have set their sights high—targeting none other than Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez. The 24-year-old Argentine has once again been linked with a move to Madrid, and this time, the rumors are louder than ever.
Enzo Fernandez Looking for a Home in Madrid?
Argentinian journalist Gustavo Mendez claims that Enzo and his partner are already house-hunting in the Spanish capital, reportedly tipped off by Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez on the best neighborhoods. According to Mendez, personal terms between Enzo and Real Madrid have already been agreed, further intensifying speculation.

This comes after weeks of uncertainty surrounding Madrid’s midfield shortlist. While names like Tijjani Reijnders and Angelo Stiller have surfaced, no clear favorite had emerged—until now.
Chelsea’s Firm Stand: Not for Sale
Despite these claims, English journalist Ben Jacobs has poured cold water on any immediate hopes for a transfer. According to him, Chelsea have no intention of selling Fernandez, and would only consider offers significantly higher than the €121 million they paid Benfica in 2023.
With a long-term contract in place until 2032, Chelsea are under no pressure to cash in on the World Cup winner. That means the only way forward for Madrid might be if Fernandez himself pushes for the move—something that hasn’t happened yet.
Real Madrid May Be Forced to Look Elsewhere
With Chelsea issuing a clear ‘hands off’ warning, Real Madrid might need to pivot and explore other options in midfield. Xabi Alonso’s tactical plans will likely shape the final decision, but unless Fernandez forces the Blues’ hand, a move to the Santiago Bernabéu this summer remains unlikely.
🗣️ Madridista’s View:
Enzo Fernandez is a fantastic player, no doubt. His vision, passing range, and intensity would fit perfectly in the heart of Real Madrid’s midfield. But €121m? That’s excessive, especially when we have young talents like Arda Güler and the possible evolution of Bellingham into a deeper role. If Enzo truly dreams of wearing the white shirt, he’ll need to push for it. Otherwise, we should look elsewhere. We are Real Madrid – we don’t chase, we choose. 👑⚪
